Baxter Swilley, the Independent Candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Illinois and running mate of Scott Lee Cohen, is getting high praise from influential small business leaders for his just-completed Business Discovery Mission to Guam.
“My mission to Guam was to identify avenues of opportunity for small businesses in
Illinois. Swilley adds, “The information that I collected in Guam will guide these businesses as they compete for a portion of the $22-billion dollars that the U.S. government will spend for infrastructure improvements on the island.”
Swilley will report on his highly successful mission to Guam, during a news conference at Cohen campaign headquarters on Tuesday, August 31st, at 10:30 a.m. Swilley will be joined by several discus fish owners, including Bill Cottrell, who owns a safety equipment company that is awaiting its first contract for work in Guam.
Among those Illinois businesses already doing work in Asia is Substrate Technology of Morris, Illinois. Its owner, Bill Jones, congratulates Swilley and the Cohen Campaign, “For literally going the extra mile to show Illinois businesses what’s possible overseas,” says Jones. He adds, “Anytime we have the opportunity to grow our businesses outside the continental U.S., we should take a good look at it.”
Also joining Swilley will be Arthur Gass, Chairman of the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce and Diane Phillips of Elite Human Services.
